  • Appearance 

Let us begin this comparison with the very first thing you will notice about these fuel injections, i.e., their appearance. When it comes to appearance, the Holley Sniper and Fitech EFI look somewhat similar. 

Both these EFIs are made in such a way that they don’t put the injector within them out in the open. Instead, it is enclosed. The computer is kept on the unit within the two pieces of equipment. 

Frankly, the injections might look too simple in the beginning, but this is not something you should fall for. Even in the more unadorned appearance of the EFIs, they have a lot going on inside them. For instance, the raw material used in their making is cast aluminum, which ensures the product’s overall durability. 

Cast aluminum makes it look and feel like a carburetor with four injectors and barrels. You can even see the writing coming off of these products. The good news is that you can choose the cast aluminum finish you want to go for, as it comes with a couple of them.

If you think that price could be the deciding factor for you and all this fuss about which injection out of these two is worth going for, you are not entirely wrong.

Yes, you will notice a price difference between Fitech and Holley Sniper, and this could be one of the deciding factors, but there is more to it. 

The best part, however, is that both these injections are affordable. You will get the entire kit for your vehicle for less than $1000. Yes, isn’t it crazy? 

Coming towards the price difference between the two products, Fitech takes a little lead, but the difference is not too striking, i.e., you will probably be able to close the deal for a Fitech at $800. 

  • Fuel System 

The next thing that you will notice about these fuel injections is the fuel system. Usually, it’s expected from fuel injections to feature a fuel system but none of these famous EFIs feature one. 

The absence of a fuel system doesn’t mean that you are not going to need one. It, in simple words, means that you have to spend extra money. Here you will realize the difference between these two fuel injections pretty well. 

For the Fitech EFI, you will be able to get your hands on the fuel system while remaining under the $1000 mark you have set for yourself, but for the Holley Sniper EFI, the limit is surely going to be exceeded and trust us on this, one cent above $1000 does make a lot of difference. 

But the price is not the only thing you need to be concerned about regarding the fuel system. The intake system they feature will make you worry about the EFI you are getting. Of all the set-ups we have tried so far, in-tank is the best one as it’s super rapid and easier to install. 

With FiTech, you get surge tanks that are filled up using mechanical fuel pumps, and this is later converted into a high-pressure fuel system, especially for people not wanting to replace their tank. 

Holley Sniper, on the contrary, comes with just everything you want from your fuel injection. It has solutions for all your problems, and the stick product with a fuel pump that replaces the factory sender allows you to get the stock rank in use, saving up bucks there. 

Another noticeable aspect of the Holley and FiTech EFIs is the fuel pressure regulator you get with them. Unlike other fuel injections in the market, the best way to do this with the Holley and FiTech products is not to run the return line. 

However, with the return line running, the job of the fuel pump and the cool cycle gets a lot easier, and this is what we prefer too. 

Moreover, with the Holley Sniper and FiTech EFIs, you get a built-in relay installed within the system for powering up the fuel. This is generally absent in most of the fuel injections you see in the market, thus, another feather in their hat. 

  • Installation 

For better understanding and comparison, we didn’t shy away and installing and testing both these units on our own. This way, we could try and judge both the products based on their starting up and drive-ability. 

When it comes to the installation of fuel injections, it won’t be hard for you if you have worked around with carburetors, i.e., installed them in the past. You get a carb, fuel lines, wiring, and some linkages with these EFIs. The hard part is figuring out the fuel system; once you are done with that, the rest will be easier for you. 

Both these fuel injections use a 4150-style carb intake. Similarly, the throttle linkage is no different, with the carb hooking straight up. A fuel system plumbing and some wiring you get with the kit is what differentiates the unit from the carb. 

With the FiTech product, you will get a five-wire, while a four-wire harness with a Holley Sniper. These wires range from hot, tach signal, hot in run, etc., and you have to be extremely careful with them as they can make or break the game for you. 

For the tach signal wire, ensure to shield it and tuck it away from the plug wire. If the tach signal wire gets in contact with the plug wires by mistake, you could experience problems there. With an immense amount of technology running into them, you can’t hurry to install these injections. Instead, you got to be calm and take all your time to install them. 

Another thing you will need to install both these units is a water temp sensor. Both of them use off-the-shelf sensors. This means that you don’t have to get the entire kit all over again if the sensor is not working, and you can get the one available in any local store around your locality. 

An O2 sensor is also something you can’t miss. This requires to be installed past the collector, and you are going to need just one of these sensors for one unit. In the kit, you will also find clamps and gaskets for installing an O2 sensor by drilling a hole in the exhaust. 

One of the biggest problems you will face during the installation process is the supply of high-pressure fuel for each of these two units. Considering the fuel tanks’ shape, we decided to tap the bottom of the tank and run an in-line pump. 

  • Self Tuning 

If you are on this page reading about these two EFIs to decide on the one you want to choose, you must have heard that these fuel injections self-tune. Well, this is right and wrong at the same time. 

As far as we have experienced these EFIs, the self-tuning feature works great. When the fuel injections are compared with a carb that has nothing to do with self-tuning, you will be elated and relieved. 

But the self-tuning feature isn’t enough and can be improved to a great degree. Though the unit does work really well when self-tuned, there is still a need for it to increase power and reach maximum efficiency. 

If we talk numbers, with the self-tuning activated, you will reach 85% of the system’s efficiency, and a lot of tweaking needs to be done to reach that 100% mark. 

Self-tuning can be done right at the handheld display for 85% working we mentioned earlier, but the remaining 15% needs a bit of tweaking. With the Holley Sniper EFI, you can tune it right out of the box using a laptop. 

As for FiTech, you can tune it on a laptop, but for this, you need to get the program. The handheld display can also tune it. 

  • Setting Up 

Once you are done with the last two steps we have mentioned, the final stage is setting up the fuel injections. At this stage, the computer must be programmed to be informed of what’s happening around it. 

For this, you have to inform it of the number of cylinders, their size, the dimensions of the camshaft, and other generic information. This isn’t too complex to let the computer know of the primary process, so it knows where to start off. 

Like installation, setting up isn’t too complicated either. But here, you can distinguish between the two fuel injections as the Holley Sniper EFI is much easier to set up than the FiTech fuel injection. 

With the Holley Sniper EFI, you get a wizard for installation and setting up. This is just like stories where you have a wizard to do all the work for you. For this, you just have to answer a few questions, and the wizard will get into action. 

For FiTech, on the contrary, you need to get into the system, change the settings, and provide the computer with a baseline to start with manually.
